Innovation and new technologies – Projections of 3D Printed Construction in Architecture
3D Printed Construction is a new technology to produce complete elements and buildings, reducing the time and resources needed, and with less environmental impact. This presentation reviews the examples that are emerging in different parts of the world, the technological alternatives and experimental developments in Chile, pointing in particular to the architectural and urban conditions. The capabilities of 3D construction suggest the execution of envelopes of continuous and sinuous shapes, which allow a better energy and structural performance, and therefore with greater resilience to catastrophes and climate changes. Promoting also singular and variable spaces, which will allow to include a greater diversity of events and relationships, generating significant atmospheres for people. Applying first in iconic buildings and ornamental components, but also promoting greater urban dispersion and natural integration.
La Construcción Impresa 3D es una nueva tecnología para elaborar elementos y edificios completos, reduciendo los tiempos y recursos necesarios, y con menor impacto ambiental. Esta presentación revisa los ejemplos que están emergiendo en distintas partes del mundo, las alternativas tecnológicas y desarrollos experimentales en Chile, apuntando en particular a las condiciones arquitectónicas y urbanas. Las capacidades de la construcción 3D sugieren la ejecución de paramentos de formas continuas y sinuosas, que permiten un mejor desempeño energético y estructural, y por tanto con una mayor resiliencia ante catástrofes y cambios climáticos. Promoviendo también espacios singulares y variables, que permitirán incluir mayor diversidad de aconteceres y relaciones, generando atmosferas significativas para las personas. Aplicándose primeramente en edificios icónicos y componentes ornamentales, pero impulsando también una mayor dispersión urbana e integración natural.
